Tension is mounting at the Suhum Government Hospital in the Eastern region of Ghana as some angry residents of the town of Akooko have besieged the premises to launch further attacks on victims of last Tuesday’s clashes who are being treated there.

The youth are demanding that they be allowed access to the casualty ward of the facility.

Two people have so far been confirmed dead and nine others seriously injured after residents of the town attacked a fetish priest for allegedly killing locals for ritual purposes.

The deceased have been identified as Kwame Kolor, 39, a brother to the priest and one Benjamin Amoah.

Meanwhile, reports say over 30 Police officers have been dispatched to the town this morning to keep order.

MP for the area Samuel Atta Akyea and the Eastern Regional Minister Bernard Antwi Boasiako will visit the town today.
