UTAGIn the wake of series of strikes in the Ghanaian health sector, members of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) on Thursday, August 6 also laid down their tools following what they say is government’s delay to pay their 2014/2015 Book and Research allowances.

At a just-ended meeting in Winneba in the Central Region, the Association says until government pays members’ arrears, they will not resume work.

The National President of UTAG, Dr. Samuel Bekoe, said government is yet to acknowledge numerous letters written over the allowances.

A statement issued after the meeting said members at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) will not be in lecture halls on Friday, August 7 when school reopens.

The lecturers say they will not take part in any academic work if government does not pay them immediately.
