Traditional authorities of Old Tafo in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi say they are battle-ready to face off with the old Tafo Zongo community anytime soon.
The angry comment of Tafohene Nana Agyemang Ababio come after hundreds of the community folks besieged the palace Tuesday to demand for weapons in self-defense following constant attacks on residents by irate Zongo Youth.
Speaking with the Regional Police Commander COP Kofi Boakye at his palace Wednesday, Nana Ababio expressed disappointment in the Ashanti regional Security Council for failing to resolve the impasse between the two factions for peace.
According to Tafohene, he will no longer sit unconcern for the Old Tafo Zongo community members he described as ‘strangers’ to intimidate he and his people.
COP Kofi Boakye urged the chiefs to remain calm indicating that “beating war drums” will not lead to an amicable resolution in the seeming hostile situation.
He suggested that both parties should engage in dialogue with the security agencies as neutral arbiters to find a lasting solution to the protracted incident which has led to the loss of several lives and destruction of property estimated at several thousands of Ghana cedis.
