“I Never Called For A New Register In Togo”-Press Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has challenged his critics to prove where he called for a new register prior to the Togo elections while he was Chairman of Ecowas.

“You can go back to the records and find out whether I called for a new register for Togo,” he said in Twi.

According to President Mahama, what he asked political power players in neighbouring Togo to do prior to the April elections was to agree on an auditor to audit that country’s register.

“I never called for a new register in Togo,” the president said.

He, therefore, asked Ghanaians to disregard reports that he asked Togolese authorities for a new register after the opposition called on him.

President Mahama made these remarks on Saturday, October 17 in the Eastern Region, where his ‘Changing Lives’ Tour got to.

The Tour, which started in the Western Region, is to whip up support ahead of the party’s primaries on Saturday, November 7.

He charged party members to make a good choice of parliamentary candidates in the primaries in order to make governance easy for him.

He indicated that he will win the 2016 elections with at least 55 per cent, which will discourage any party from challenging the results in court.

The leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said the party’s track record speaks for itself and that will motivate electorates to retain it in power.
