MTTD Disposes Abandoned Motorbikes

The Ashanti Regional Police Command Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) has given owners of motor bikes abandoned at its premises a two-week ultimatum to report to the Central MTTD Commander for the collection of their motorbikes or forever forfeit them.

The Central MTTD says the abandoned motorbikes are creating congestion at their premises, hence the need for  de-congestion.

According to a statement issued and signed by the Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Chief Inspector Godwin Ahianyo, said the abandoned motorbikes will be auctioned in accordance with the laws of the country.

He disclosed that they were impounded during a special operation to clamp down on the use of motorbikes without registration numbers, riding without helmet as well as riding without valid license and other relevant documents’.

‘The owners of such motorbikes have since refused to report to the police for the necessary processes. The C/MTTD Command is therefore asking the owners to report to them for the necessary action. Failure of which will result in their disposal without recourse to them,’ the statement warned.
