CAF boss Issa Hayatou will take over as acting FIFA President following substantive boss Sepp Blatter’s provisional suspension. The 90-day suspension, imposed by a FIFA ethics committee kicks in on Thursday, a statement at the world football governing body headquarters has confirmed.

Hayatou, who has led the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for several decades is in line to take over in the ‘absence’ of Sepp Blatter, in accordance with FIFA statutes, as the longest-serving vice-president on FIFA’s executive committee, the statement said.

Sepp Blatter is currently under investigation on corruption charges.
