Ghana Eligible For HIPC Assistance
Ghana has been listed as part of countries eligible to get assistance under the Highly Indebted Poor Country exercise by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Ghana made the list of 36 , together with other countries such as Haiti, Chad and Afghanistan among others whom the Bretton Woods Institution say they can freely call on it for HIPC assistance.
The objective of the HIPC Initiative is to support poor countries stricken with debt crisis to manage their indebtedness.
The initiative spearheaded by IMF and world Bank came into being in 1996.
