Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama, says he is not living in fear following the failed assassination attempt on his life.

A 36-year old man believed to be mentally derailed, has been sentenced to ten years under controversial circumstances after he was arrested with a fully load gun at the President’s place of worship in Accra.

He was jailed within three days of the incident after he confessed to the court that wanted to kill the President so he could become President.

Commenting on the incident in an interview with State-owned Uniiq FM Wednesday, the President who sounded very unperturbed about the life-threatening incident, said whiles his security team is fortifying their approach to his protection, he is confident God will protect him from any harm.

The BNI is investigating. “I didn’t think much of it. God is my protector….no weapons fashioned against me shall prosper” referring to the Biblical quotation Isaiah 54:17″ he noted.

Meanwhile there are attempts by human right lawyers to revisit the incarceration of the failed assassin, who is believed to be mentally derailed and thus many not have been given a fair trial.
