Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is the new president of the Republic of Ghana. After winning the 2016 presidential election which also ushers in a New Patriotic Party (NPP) majority, Nana Addo was sworn into office on the 7th of Jan.
In his inaugural speech, the President signaled that there would be no room for corruption in his government. “I will protect the public purse by insisting on value for money in all transactions”
“Money is to be made in the private sector not the public, and measures will be put in place to ensure this”, he said.
He also said he will follow a vibrant agenda to build the economy by following an aggressive infrastructural drive reducing taxes and creating jobs.
He further mentioned that his government will seek greater decentralization of power. This seems in line with his campaign promise to create another region from the Western region.
Nana Akufo Addo also said Ghana will continue to play the key role it has always doe when it comes to Pan-African affairs.
