ECG Assigns Technical Officers To Vantage Areas Ahead Of December Polls

The Electricity Company of Ghana has detailed  its district managers and technical staff  to ensure that all minor technical challenges are fixed  before the December polls to ensure constant supply of power to all polling stations and coalition centers under the jurisdiction of ECG  to ensure smooth election.

According to the Eastern Regional Manager of ECG,Ing.Michael Baah, tells starr News Eastern Regional Correspondent Kojo Ansah that,at the moment,contractors are clearing trees  that may cause power outage by trigger of windstorm.

He said ,the company has also detailed their technical staff to vantage substations  where the election activities will  be taken place to swiftly fix problems during the polls.

“The election is very important, it is a landmark event  in the history of the nation and having in mind the election,we have  decided to put measures in place  to ensure that areas under ECG in the Eastern region get constant  power supply during the election.

We have detailed all our  district managers and their staff to ensure  that,the lines that supply power to  various Electoral centers are always own.At the moment ,contractor are on the line clearing all the bushes along the lines so that there wont be issue of outages during the election.

And we have  also detailed our men to  be at the vantage points,the substations  and where the election would be taken place so in case of any eventuality ,they will  take it up to restore power to the EC.”

Ing.Baah added that, ECG is collaborating  with the District Assemblies  to get standby generators for  the various polling stations so in case of power failure, the standby generator supply power to the EC officials for smooth running of the process.

“We are also collaborating with the districts  assemblies to  get standby generators  for the various polling stations so in case  power goes off the generators can supply power to have a credible election”.

He said this at the sidelines of the National Launching of 2016 power Queens week celebration in Koforidua on Monday.

The National President of ECG power Queens Club  ,Queen Rosemond Asamoa-Frimpong ,advised female staff of ECG to priorities customer care services by relating professionally and politely to clients of the company to establish good image for ECG.

Power Queens club is using the celebration to stock the Koforidua Government Hospital blood Bank, hit recently with shortage of blood ,by donating 600 pints of blood from its members.
