Social Welfare Department Clashes With Church Over Property

The department of Social welfare in the Eastern region is in loggerhead with a Miraculous Jesus Evangelistic Ministry ,a Koforidua based Church to vacate its premises over unlawful occupancy of a facility belonging to the department and excessive noise making which according to the department posses health risk to inmates of the Remand Home/Vocational Training Center.

Several attempts by the Social Welfare department to get out the church from the premises has yielded no results.

The Church ,headed by Prophet Akwadaa Nyame has since failed to vacate from the premises compelling the Social Welfare department to take legal action.

The Social welfare department is praying Koforidua Magistrate Court for declaration of Tittle and Recovery of Possession of Property occupied by the church.

The department is also seeking the Courts’ intervention to restrain the Headpastor from using the property.

The statement of claim by the plaintiff states that ” there is no document indicating any rent agreement between the department of social welfare and the Church .The plaintiff further avers that ,on the 5th of July 2013,a letter was written to the defendant inviting him to discuss the total cost of renovating on the said building ,even though they met,the defendant could not tell the total money spent on the building”

The plaintiff states that ” he wrote other letter dated 11th of September 2013 asking the head pastor to stop using the premises for church activity by 31 of October ,2013 but to no avail.A letter of reminder followed on December 9,2015 but fell on dead ear.
