AUDIO: ‘Wontumi Must Demonstrate Leadership As Chairman’ -Manhyia North NPP Dep. Secretary
The Manhyia North Constituency Deputy Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Patricia Arthur has vowed to resist any attempt by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias ‘Chairman Wontumi’ to impose a Parliamentary candidate on the constituents.
She has thus charged Chairman Wontumi to desist from influencing the upcoming election in the constituency.
Madam Arthur advised the regional chairman to ensure that peace prevails during and after the election.
‘For peace to prevail in Manhyia North Constituency Chairman Wontumi must be unbiased,’ she stated.
Addressing journalists in Kumasi, Madam Arthur blamed Chairman Wontumi for masterminding an assault on the constituency.
Elections will take place in the various polling stations today Thursday.
The NPP’s Manhyia North Constituency has been in the news in recent times for several issues including violent clashes among party members over the compilation of the constituency’s delegates electoral album.
The constituency is one of two in the Ashanti Region which is yet to elect its parliamentary candidate ahead of the November 7 2016 general elections.
This is because some members of the party expressed their suspicion of foul-play in the compilation of the constituency’s electoral polling station album to favour one of the aspirant’s interests.
Several attempts by both national and regional executives of the party to resolve the matter has failed as a date is yet to be set by the party for the primaries.
Collins Amankwaa and Nana Osei Bamfoe are aspiring to be voted as constituency parliamentary candidates.
