‘Our Arrears Paid By gov’t Is A hoax’-Nurses & Midwives

The Coalition of unpaid Nurses and Midwives group has stated emphatically that their outstanding salary arrears have not been paid by government as reported in media circles, describing it as a monumental strategic deceit on Ghanaians, and a hoax.

According to the group, members of the Coalition who have been paid are not more than 30%, saying most of them were not fully paid.

‘The government of Ghana, has in recent publications, made public, claims of a successful payment of all such outstanding salary arrears, a hoax which makes us doubt if the current system is not endorsing double standards with respect to justice administration,’ the aggrieved nurses and midwives said.

The Coalition has declared its intention to resume its indefinite strike if government fails to pay their salary arrears by January 31, 2016.‘If every single dime is not paid to our bank accounts by January 31st 2016, we will resume our indefinite strike,’ they threatened.

Here is the full release from the Coalition:

INDEFINITE STRIKE NOTICE

“OVER 7000 NURSES AND MIDWIVES ARREARS SETTLED BY GOVERNMENT “,

A monumental strategic deceit on Ghanaians, and a HOAX.

THE COALITION OF UNPAID NURSES AND MIDWIVES HEREBY WISHES TO SERVE THE GOOD PEOPLE OF GHANA,

A NOTICE OF INDEFINITE STRIKE

The COALITION OF UNPAID NURSES AND MIDWIVES GROUP for the past one to three years, has undergone a steamroller hardship following a series of failed attempts on it’s part to use the HUMBLE approach to retrieve from it’s employer, salaries and arrears, most of which has remained UNPAID till date.

The COALITION, couple of months ago, suspended it’s nationwide STRIKE, in relation to the UNPAID SALARIES AND ARREARS following a humble response to the relevant stakeholders, its mother association, the GRNMA and the good people of Ghana on 8th October, 2015.

The COALITION amidst several struggles for Survival, marginal borderline nutrition due to limited basic needs and feeble purchasing power following what is now perceived as government’s deliberate adamance in salaries and arrears settlement, notwithstanding the series of round table discussions, promises and reassurances, the coalition stood firm in loyalty and worked it’s fingers to the bone in rendering quality nursing care without reservation to mother Ghana.

Ironically, the government of Ghana, has in recent publications, made public, claims of a successful payment of all such outstanding salary arrears, a HOAX which makes us doubt if the current system is not endorsing double standards with respect to justice administration.

Members of the COALITION who have been paid are “not more than thirty percent” and “most of them were not paid fully”.

The discrepancy the COALITION has gathered so far is beyond understanding. We are convinced enough that the government has not addressed our salaries and arrears issues with the necessary attention.

In the light of the above stated predicaments, the COALITION with due respect, left with no better alternative, in no uncertain terms, declare it’s intention to resume its indefinite strike “if” every single dime is not paid to our bank accounts by January 31st 2016.

We hereby challenge the relevant stakeholders, GRNMA, every rational, patriotic citizen and believer of rule of law in Ghana to reconsider their stance as to whether our motto, “Freedom and Justice” is not literally being consigned to OBLIVION, the INEVITABLE fate of every dying nation as our leaders who we are supposed to emulate, dynamically upset the synergistic balance that justifies our age known motto, the driving force that kept our forefathers to task even when it meant giving up their precious life to saving our nation till date, with such series of deceit.

This government intention to pay only 3months of salaries and later pay the remaining arrears is a deliberate and wicked act to punish innocent salary workers and also STEAL their hard end monies.
Is very very disgusting to withhold someone salary for years knowing very well the daily depreciation value of the state currency. This over delayed arrears should be paid with INTEREST.

Its so pathetic to be a salary worker in Ghana….its solo sad
