ISIS-Trained Ghanaians Returning Home – Security Analyst Warns

A security expert has revealed that some Ghanaian youth recruited and trained by dangerous terrorist group ISIS are returning home.

According to Irbard Ibrahim, the nation’s security agencies will have to tighten their surveillance to monitor those youth to prevent them from radicalizing others.

More than a dozen Ghanaian youth have reportedly joined the Islamic State with identities of at least two of them confirmed.

Ibrahim states that the ISIS-trained Muslim youth are returning home on the blind side of security officials.

He added that with the latest attack in Paris which claimed more than 100 lives, Ghana is not totally safe and can not take its security matters for granted.

“I fear for Ghanaian ISIS returnees and already there is a growing body of evidence that a few Ghanaian youth have actually joined the group…so I think we should do much better than the French intelligence agency,” Ibrahim told Morning Starr host Nii Arday Clegg Tuesday.

Meanwhile, France has mobilized 115,000 security personnel in the wake of Friday’s Paris attacks which claimed the lives of over 120 people.

128 more raids on suspected militants have been carried out. French air strikes also hit Islamic State in Syria overnight.

A huge manhunt is under way for one of the suspects, Salah Abdeslam.

European Union defence ministers have unanimously backed France’s request for help with military missions in the wake of the Paris attacks.
