Coach Avram Grant has dropped captain Asamoah Gyan and has given defender Jonathan Mensah a starting role for Ghana’s World Cup qualifying first leg match against Comoros at the Stade Said Mohammed Cheikh in Moroni today.
After a month absence from the team Mensah partners John Boye at the heart of defence as US-based Harrison Afful and Chelsea’s Baba Rahman will be on the right and left side of defence respectively.
The game which is Ghana’s opening game in the road to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, will see Cordoba goalkeeper Razak Braimah retain his place in post for the Black Stars.
Mubarak Wakaso will be in midfield alongside Afriyie Acquah with stand-in skipper Andre Ayew and Solomon Asante on the flanks.
Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew will play directly behind Abdul Majeed Waris in attack for the Black Stars as captain Gyan sits out.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 12:00 noon GMT.
