Don’t Deal With Suspended Afoko – NPP Writes To Electoral Commission

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has written to the Electoral Commission to stop dealing with its suspended National Chairman Paul Afoko.

The acting chairman, Freddie Blay, in a letter dated October 28 to the electoral body said due to the suspension “all correspondence and records” should reflect the party’s decision.

However, the EC gave Afoko accreditation in his official capacity as the NPP chairman to represent the Elephant family at a public forum on the voters’ register.

“I’m here as the Chairman of the NPP, I am here leading the team to ensure that the views of our party are heard; to ensure that we push through the reforms that we require for next year’s elections,” Afoko told the media.

Meanwhile, a press statement from Afoko’s spokesperson Nana Yaw Osei said: “For the information of all, the Electoral Commission invited the National Chairman, the General Secretary and the party’s technical team on the review of the voters’ register to today’s forum.

“Undoubtedly, the national chairman is Mr. Paul A. Afoko and the General Secretary is Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.”

The NPP is yet to officially comment on the issue.
