NDC Will Win 2016 Election Despite Chiefs Endorsement – Ofosu Ampofo

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party says it will not allow complacency to set in as President John Dramani Mahama receives endorsements and assurances from chiefs across the country.

According to the First Vice Chairman of the Party, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo the NDC is focused on working hard on the ground to secure victory in the 2016 general election, and will not be carried away by the numerous promises and praise being showered on the president.

President John Dramani Mahama is on his #Changing Lives Tour to parts of the country and has received tonnes of praises and promises by traditional rulers in areas he has visited so far.

The Paramount Chief of Sunyani, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri, has promised President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress that the Brong Ahafo Region will vote massively for the ruling party in next year’s polls.

Unlike the Eastern region where the NDC is aiming to set an agenda 50-50 to increase their votes, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri promised the NDC the Brong Ahafo Region would make it 80% in their favour.

Nana Bosoma Asor told President Mahama at a public gathering that “the 80% is a promise. Other regions can promise 50% but we are going to give you 80%”.

However speaking on Peace FM Wednesday, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo stated that the party will not allow the chiefs commendations to get to its head, but will undertake a vigorous campaign to ensure another term for President Mahama.

“I don’t believe in chiefs assuring a President of certain percentage of vote in an election, but rather the party working on the grounds to secure victory. However If a chief is showing appreciation to the President for his good deeds, I am okay with that. Even Jesus Christ loves to be appreciated as is evidenced in the story of the 10 lepers in the Bible”.
