Member Of Anas’ Tiger Eye PI Rescued From Kidnappers

A member of journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ private investigation company Tiger Eye PI, has been rescued by police in the Northern Regional capital Tamale, after he was abducted Saturday morning.
Ishmael Hussein, who is now in the care of the police, was rescued after news of his kidnap got to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Alhassan. Unconfirmed reports suggest the police have arrested one of the kidnappers with several of them on the run.

It is unclear what the motive for the failed kidnap could be, coming on the heels of the widespread corruption exposed in the judiciary by Anas and his team. Police have however commenced investigations into the incident.

Ghana’s judiciary is currently under massive scrutiny as 22 lower court judges who were captured in Anas’ investigative video allegedly taking bribes, are being questioned after their suspension. Some seven out of 12 High Court judges, who were also implicated, have been suspended by President John Mahama after the Chief Justice established a prima facie case against them.

Over 80 staff of the judicial service and staff of the police, prisons and the Attorney-General’s Department, were also captured on the video and are being investigated. President Mahama and the Chief Justice, have served notice that anyone found culpable after investigations are completed would be prosecuted.
