Ghanaians tremble after watching Anas’ video

Many Ghanaians who thronged the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) Tuesday to watch the video on the judicial corruption scandal have expressed shock and disappointment following the revelations in the footage.

The three and half-hour long investigative video produced by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas captures some judges from the different stages of the judiciary structure taking bribes to compromise their judgments on cases before them.

Some patrons who spoke to Starr News said the development is worrying and creates uncertainty in the judicial system.

“I’m shocked that the people we so respect and revere are accepting monies to set criminals free. How cheap can they be, Some of them are taking as low as Ghc800 to decide cases and some even took animals to let loose criminals. It’s so disappointing,” an angry patron lamented.

The AICC was filled to capacity hours after an Accra high court cleared the way for the public viewing following initial attempts by one of the High court judges who was implicated in the video, Justice Paul Derry, to block it.

Meanwhile, Justice Derry is expected to request the Supreme Court to declare the petition filed by Anas for his removal as unlawful.

The Chief Justice has, however, assured of swift sanctions for all staff of the judiciary who have been implicated in the expose’.

Are Ghanaians so gullible? I do believe that corruption is rampant in Ghanaian society not only within the judiciary but throughout the legal profession and most certainly within the media, thanks to Kweku Baku and Anas. What happened when Baku and Anas were dragged to Court for their HATCHET men duties and their video fabrication? They put so much pressure on the lawyers involved. They might have even put pressure on the judges, so they would know all about bribing judges. As for Ace, the partner at Bentsi-Enchil and Letsa who has fast become best friends of Baku and Anas, did he not approach the young lawyer suing the tabloid defendants to drop the case because the plaintiff in that case had suspected him of taking bribe when his firm represented the plaintiff in another case? Baku, Anas, and Ace your days are numbered. You too will be exposed.

And let’s not forget that Anas specializes in manipulating videos. That video should be screened by an independent media house outside Ghana given that Anas is revered and feared in undemocratic Ghana.
