A team of experts will be sent from the US to monitor Ghana’s elections in 2016 on behalf of the New Patriotic Party. The team will be made up of members of the party in the USA with the requisite knowledge for monitoring elections. This was disclosed by the party’s US chairman, Nana Kwaku Agyei Yeboah at the launch of the Coalition To Elect Nana Addo And Bawumia (CENAB) in Philadelphia, USA.

“NPP-USA National Executive Council is going to approve a budget for phase 2 of the ‘Mframakesee Project’ and hopefully by 2016 we should be able to be in Ghana to monitor the elections” he told party faithful at the Philadelphia event.

He said the NPP under former President John Kuffour managed to take Ghana from a highly indebted country to a prosperous one but the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government has within 6 years of taking over from the NPP managed to send the country to a state of near-collapse. He added that Ghana is crying for the NPP to come back to power and it behooves on the party to be vigilant in order not to lose the 2016 election to rigging by the incumbent NDC. This, he said is the reason for the NPP-USA’s decision to sent an internal team to keep tabs on the figures in the pending elections.

He clarified that he was at the event in the same capacity he would be at any other event organized by any of the party’s flag-bearer hopefuls.

The event was organized by the Coalition To Elect Nana Addo and Bawumia (CENAB), a group within the NPP-USA rooting for 2012 flag-bearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and his running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to be retained by the party in the 2016 general elections.
