GHANA: AMWeF Brings Smiles To Aged Musicians In Kumasi

A second batch of fity out of the 110 Aging Ghanaian musicians registered nationwide with the Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWEF) have met at the Cultural Centre, Kumasi as part of the second distribution meeting of the fund.
The veteran musicians were feted in addition to the distribution of cash amounts as determined by the Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWeF)Committee.
This second distribution is in line with the purpose for the establishment of the fund. The AMWeF is part of the AJUMAPA vision of the President of the MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kuffour and it is an intervention to raise funds to support the many ageing and elderly musicians who are currently going through various degrees of emotional and financial challenges and also to support musicians who become incapacitated in the course of their career.
Interviews with many of these aged musicians beneficiaries revealed how grateful they were for such an intervention and they couldnt help but to praise Obour and his team.
Some of the beneficiaries were Awuraa Ama Badu, Osei Vasco, Nana Yepemso, Attakora Manu, Corsa and Akonoba J.K.
Other beneficiaries included Osenkafo, Teacher , Prof Kofi Abraham, Kaakyire Badu, Agya Koo Nimo and Aduse Poku.
At the recent MUSIGA Grandball 2014 which was in aid of the AMWEF Fund and the MUSIGA Academy, over GHC 50,000 was raised in an auction and a raffle draw to support the fund and the Academy.
A presentation is to be made to the AMWeF committee by the Chairman of the Board of the MUSIGA Grand Ball on Tuesday.
