Reggae Royalty hit Perth over the weekend as Morgan Heritage co-vocalist Gramps “Grandpa” Morgan hit the stage at The Bakery, Northbridge. Promoters Mumma Trees and Sista Che took a break from the regular Friday night Freo Higher Fire series to take it to a next level.

Gramps hit the stage supported by DJ Brad Tafa Hemmings singing “Down by the River” amidst a chorus from the audience. He then proceeded to render a 45 minute set punctuated by positive vibes especially to the African youth and a piano rendition.

The audience virtually sang through the set with an obviously happy Gramps.

He announced his solo project and that of his siblings, brother Peter “Peetah” Morgan and sister Una Morgan. Wearing a T Shirt bearing the inscription “The Return- Morgans Heritage” he also announced a massive comeback of the Heritage.

Jahmoko, one of the finest Reggae acts to come out of New Zealand opened the gig. Also in attendance was General Justice an a string of selects.
